Background

Arbre, a sustainable, mineral-based sun care brand based in Toronto, ON, is on a mission to develop universally functional and eco-friendly SPF products. With no established brand identity, I worked on designing the brand's concept direction, creating a content strategy, and outlining an effective information hierarchy (wireframes) for the company's crowdfunding campaign.

Team

As a Research Fellow at Propel Impact (formerly known as the Social Innovation Program), my team was tasked with conducting market research for Arbre, a sustainable, mineral-based sun care brand based in Toronto, ON. Our goal was to help the brand establish a unique position in the market through a comprehensive competitor analysis.

I took an active role in supporting the design concept and content strategy for the crowdfunding campaign, working closely with my peers Isabella Merola, Genesia Tang, and Aisha Mudie. Together, we provided Arbre with a detailed report and recommendations for best practices and strategies to ensure a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Project objectives

  • Conducted a thorough evaluation of various crowdfunding platforms to identify the most appropriate one that aligns with Arbre's financial targets.
  • Analyzed successful case studies in the health & beauty industry to determine best practices and strategies for Arbre's campaign.
  • Crafted a user-friendly and engaging content flow for the crowdfunding landing page, including the creation of wireframes to organize the messaging and content hierarchy.

Market research

Our research aimed to find the most relevant and successful health & beauty crowdfunding campaigns to provide valuable insights for Arbre's campaign. We analyzed five successful case studies and evaluated them based on their fundraising goals, actual funds raised, campaign duration, platform type, business location, industry type, reward tiers, highest reward offered, and number of unique funders.

Based on the results of our research, our team recommended using either Kickstarter or Indiegogo for Arbre's crowdfunding campaign. We provided a comparison of the key features of each platform to help Arbre make an informed decision. Additionally, we identified key trends and success factors in the health & beauty crowdfunding space, including the importance of establishing credibility, bringing the company and product to life, and building a strong community.
